Chester Marathon 2024

2024-Chester Marathon-triple-medal-post.pngOn the 6th October we played our last engagement before Christmas at Huntington Village suporting the Chester Marathon.  Much as we would have liked to unfotunately we had to play, so were unable to take part in the actual running.

Instead, we sat under a small marquee and played for three and half hours, our conductor is merciless, with just a fifteen-minute comfort break.  At the end our lips were dropping off.

However, the runners seemed to appreciate us, using up some of their much needed energy to applaud us amid cries of ‘never again!’.  We were situated about three miles from the end of the run so I suspect some of the runners were at their lowest ebb.

Below you can see some photos from the event.  Sadly the person taking the photos was obviously a fan of the bottom end as he didn't take any of the cornets. but, trust me, they were there.

Our determined conductor takes us through our fifth rendition of Slaidburn whilst runners keep on coming.

A brief comfort breal in the middle. A coupe of stalwarts mind the stand.
