Ashton Park 2022

Our second event of the year was a more traditional affair rather than the Cosmic Cape festival - A concert in the park.  We have been performing regularly in Ashton Park for a number of years and always enjoy it’s beautiful setting. (Click on the image of the lake to learn more about the park).

Unfortunately, it was very cloudy and rained off and on all afternoon but this didn’t dampen the spirit of the audience who, from the shelter of their brollies gave us an  enthusiastic reception.

Luckily Mark, our solo horn player's husband, was on hand to take a few photographs. You can see them below, just click on an image to see a zoomed out version.

The marquee gave us some shelter from the showers although our long-suffering musical director managed to get a bit damp from water running off the top of the marquee. The breeze gave it the effect of someone intermittently throwing small buckets of water over him.  Also, to ensure that he was evenly damp all over, he walked backwards and forwards through the showers to introduce each piece to our audience.

Sheltered Cornets

The others, also well inside the marquee.

Sadly this was the only picture Mark took of his wife Ruth, which is a pity as she featured in a number of pieces we played not least an arrangement of Herbie Flower's and Ian Gomm's Carillon.
